Join us on September 7, 2015 for an evening with Vandana Shiva - where all will enjoy good food, good music, and good conversation in celebration and preservation of our local abundance.
Dr. Vandana Shiva is a world renowned and award winning author of 20 books, philosopher, environmentalist, professional speaker and social activist who has fought for changes in the practice and paradigms of agriculture and food. Having contributed with ideas and through activist campaigns to intellectual property rights, biodiversity, biotechnology, bioethics, and genetic engineering, Dr. Shiva is also founder of Navdanya, a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources, especially native seed, the promotion of organic farming and fair trade. She will give a talk about rights to self-government granted by Home Rule and help us raise funds for the Charter Project of Mendocino County.
Come listen to the Raging Grannies sing their favorite anti-Monsanto songs, enjoy farm-to-table hors d'oeuvres prepared by Chef Sadhana, savor local wine, and relax to the music of Clay Hawkins. Bid on an amazing array of items at the silent auction, and help raise funds to mold the Mendocino County government into one that will serve the unique needs of this county. All tickets are SOLD OUT. Standing room only is still available.
There will be a chartered bus to take people from the coast to the event. The bus will leave Point Arena at around 4:00 pm, making a stops in Albion, and then stopping at the Boatyard in Fort Bragg at around 5:00 pm.
